BONHAMS’ two annual Stafford sales have become among the most popular, well-attended and most valuable motorcycle auctions in UK, with the most recent events seeing record-breaking sales take place.
This latest event looks set to follow the trend with plenty of excitement surrounding the 1924 Croft-Cameron Super Eight, which headlines hundreds of lots. With the Coventry-based company’s production only ever small-scale, this relatively rare example is expected to sell for upwards of £150,000.
The V-twin has been in the same family ownership since the 1950s, and before that had only one previous owner. This Super Eight, is powered by an eight-valve 1000cc Anzani V-twin engine, and features Montgomery front forks.
It has impeccable history and has hardly been seen since the 1960s, when it featured at the Earls Court motorcycle show and was ridden in several Banbury Runs. The Croft-Cameron’s last tax disc dates to 1969.
Also in Bonhams’ sale are myriad fabulous motorcycles with a particularly healthy helping of veterans through to the ex-Roger Nicholls Sports Motorcycles TT Ducati. Among the other notable examples going under the hammer are a 1948 Vincent Black Shadow, a 1907 Matchless V-Twin combination and a 1979 Kawasaki Z1000 TT racing bike.
